Periodontist’s are dental specialist that have undergone a minimum of three years of additional didactic and surgical training after graduating dental school. Following the completion of their training, periodontists must pass an oral and written examination to become board certified and a fellow of the Royal College of Dentists of Canada. A periodontist specializes in the health of the gum and bone that support your teeth. Periodontists have comprehensive understanding of oral inflammation and the links between gum disease and overall systemic health. They are also highly trained in the surgical placement of dental implants for the rehabilitation and replacement of your missing teeth. Most patients are referred to the periodontist by a general dentist, but patients can refer themselves. Any patient who is concerned about their gum and bone health or would like a dental implant are welcome to book an appointment with our office directly.
